Albert Talks About Friendship
Woof woof! Hi everyone, it’s me,
Albert, your friendly neighborhood therapy dog at Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County! I have to tell you, being a dog is sometimes the bravest job in the world. Sure, chasing my tail is fun and all, but have you ever had to face the terrifying mailman? (Don’t worry, I always bark really loud, so he never breaks in. Pretty sure he’s scared of me!)
But here’s a little secret, even brave pups like me get scared sometimes. When I do, I know I can always run to my favorite humans for comfort. That’s what friends are for, right?
Speaking of friends, I saw an important lesson about friendship just today on the playground. A little boy tripped and fell, and he started to cry. My therapy dog instincts kicked right in, so I trotted over and laid down beside him. He grabbed my soft fur and gave me one of those big, squeezy hugs that make you feel all warm inside. He was still sniffly, but you know what? Sometimes you just need to cry a little to feel better.
Guess what happened next? His friends ran over to help! They comforted him and helped him get back on his feet. That’s real friendship: being there for someone, even when you’re busy playing or doing something else.
Being a good friend isn’t just about having fun or sharing treats. (Although, let’s be honest, sharing snacks is pretty great too.) It’s about being there when your pals need you, no matter what. So remember, next time you see someone who’s feeling down, just be like Albert! Offer them a little comfort and lots of love.
Until next time, keep wagging and keep caring!
Tail wags and nose boops, Albert 🐾
