In a powerful display of solidarity and compassion, over 160 Boys & Girls Clubs across Indiana came together for a statewide day of service to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Among these clubs was the Goshen Clubhouse, where a heartwarming and impactful event unfolded, leaving a lasting mark on the community and its members.

At the heart of the Goshen Clubhouse’s activities was the symbolic act of planting an Oak Tree, a gesture that embodies resilience and strength through its enduring roots. The tree, generously provided by HartWood Tree Care, served as a tangible representation of the club’s commitment to nurturing mental well-being and fostering a sense of community rooted in support and growth. The planting ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed figures, including our President and CEO, Dr. Tami Hicks, and Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty, who lent their support and joined the children in planting the tree. Additionally, employees from the City of Goshen volunteered their time to assist in this meaningful initiative, underscoring the collaborative spirit that permeated the event.

Amidst the tree planting, the Club members enthusiastically participated in a medley of engaging activities aimed at promoting positivity and kindness. From rock painting with inspirational words to crafting floral bouquets and creating a kindness tree, the children immersed themselves in activities that not only sparked creativity but also instilled values of empathy and unity. Furthermore, as a service project, the Goshen Keystone Club members took to the streets to clean up litter in the surrounding area, demonstrating their commitment to both environmental stewardship and community welfare.

The day’s events encapsulated the essence of giving back, raising awareness, and fostering a culture of care and compassion. Through hands-on activities, interactive projects, and acts of service, the Goshen Clubhouse exemplified the transformative power of collective action and the profound impact it can have in advocating for mental health awareness and well-being.

As the echoes of this statewide day of service continue to resonate, let us carry forward the spirit of unity, generosity, and support in our daily lives. Together, we can cultivate a community where mental health is valued, celebrated, and nurtured, ensuring that each individual feels seen, heard, and supported in their journey towards holistic well-being.

Stay tuned for more inspiring stories and initiatives from Boys & Girls Clubs across Indiana as we continue to stand together, raise awareness, and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
