Summer programming is now in full swing, but Club staff is also planning for the upcoming fall start of the school year.
As that work begins, we’re reflecting on the successes of the past school year. Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County work hard to make sure the young people who walk through our doors are inspired and empowered to reach their full potential. Recognition is a positive way to reinforce those efforts.
The Goshen Club celebrated the teen Club members who graduated with a party. It included a meal from Hacienda Mexican Restaurants and a gift basket for each graduate.
It is important for teens to be honored for their hard work, but providing this recognition around the younger members helps give them role models at Club.
Another recognition event was the “Celebration of Champions,” honoring Club members for their work during the previous year. Every member received a new Club shirt and members were given awards for character, education, art, attendance and leadership.
The Club had an amazing group during the past school year and everyone learned more because of the pandemic. We saw members who struggled to adjust to online courses get help and pull up their grades. We also saw many of our elementary members develop leadership roles within their school pods.
Perseverance, adaptability and leadership are some of the best traits that our members gained during the past school year. We’re confident those traits will be used in the years to come!
