Lyricism 101 is a program designed to cultivate and amplify the powerful, formidable voices of Club teens. Through the lens of hip-hop, particularly ciphers, teens will be able to engage in programming and events that build self-esteem, use a medium to express thoughts, passions and ideas, build skills in literacy, musical collaboration, performance and rhyme creation
Ages: All Ages
In partnership with Music Village, MusicMakers inspires young people to produce music and to create their life’s soundtrack.
National Arts Contest
This year-round program encourages artistic expression among Club members ages 6 to 18 through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits. National Arts Contests enable Club members to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through visual arts and design. Comprised of the National Fine Arts Exhibit and the ImageMakers National Photography programs, youth who compete within four age groups (6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18) have the opportunity to share their creative expressions with the community by participating in art competitions that are exhibited and judged locally, regionally and nationally. The annual contest launches during National Arts in Education Week in September.
National Photography Program
The National Photography Program enables youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through the appreciation of photography. The program is designed to help members go beyond snapshots and develop skills to take photographs that can really impact the viewer. The current popularity and accessibility of photography makes it a powerful means to engage youth of all ages in creative programming, while simultaneously teaching them skills they will use for the rest of their lives. For some youth, photography opens a door to creative self-expression that no other art form allows. Others may discover a career path.
