Middlebury Club Visits Grand Rapids For Immersive Art Experience
Members of the Middlebury Club got an opportunity to explore a diverse range of artwork. They started the day with the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park which integrates the experience of striking gardens with fine art.
The sculpture program features more than 200 works in the permanent collection sited both indoors and outdoors on the 158-acre main campus. Members also got to explore the seasonal exhibit of Yinka Shonibare CBE: Planets in My Head.
Members then traveled to the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids for the immersive experience of Beyond Van Gogh. Through the use of cutting-edge projection technology and an original score, Beyond Van Gogh breathes new life into over 300 of van Gogh’s artworks. Comprised of over 4 trillion content pixels, this high-resolution portrayal of Van Gogh’s work gave the members the opportunity to become one with his paintings.

Members Using Unique Media To Create Designs
They’re delicious and they’re beautiful. Members from the Goshen and Nappanee Clubs are learning that painting doesn’t have to be restricted to a canvas. They’re using food coloring and frosting to add designs to sugar cookies. It’s part of a “Culinary Art” program. They’ll be experimenting with other formats throughout the summer!

Goshen Club Gets Creative During Art Week
The theme of “Under the Sea” had members at Goshen Club doing different underwater related crafts that came together and created a giant display in our art room. Every age group had a focused activity each day, and for the older kids there were several craft stations. Some of the crafts that the teens and juniors did were creating paper roll and pool noodle coral, sand art on starfish, oil pastel bubbles, painting with bubbles and straws, yarn jellyfish and painting rocks. The cadets painted bubbles, created “Rainbow Fish” after listening to the story, paper bag jellyfish/octopi, pointillism starfish, and painted rocks and shells. Everybody’s artwork came together in our “Under the Sea” display.

Members Transform Sidewalk Into Art Canvas
The sidewalk outside the Middlebury Club has been transformed. As part of our Fine Arts Focus Awesome Experience sponsored by Lisa Meade, members from Middlebury, Nappanee and Goshen used the sidewalk as their canvas to create some colorful works of art! Thanks for providing unique experiences for our members!
