The team members at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County Clubhouses strive every day to live out a #WhateverItTakes attitude. That’s they way they work to inspire and empower the young people at the Clubs.
That attitude doesn’t stop when the members leave at the end of the day. The team at the Nappanee Club wanted to extend that to their families as well.
They provided 50 families with $25 gift cards to Martin’s in January. They picked families who may be facing challenges right now.
“While a lot of families get the help they need in December, they may not get help in January,” said Nappanee Area Director Mandy Gerber. “We chose grocery gift cards because that’s where some of our families struggle.”

“Some families were shocked that we did this. They were so appreciative that the team also included a personal note,” Gerber said.
That note extended blessings to the families for the new year and told them the team is glad their families are part of the Boys & Girls Club family.
She said they received a lot of expressions of appreciation from the families, including the note above which called the team “the real heroes of the neighborhood.”
This is the second year the Nappanee Club has organized this effort.
