Holidays at the Club
We are blessed in Middlebury to be able to safely still have holiday celebrations for our Club members. These celebrations are a highlight for Club members and they look forward to them every year.
In November we had our very first Thanksgiving meal in the Club! We served over 80 Club members that day. The Club members enjoyed pie, turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, and mac & cheese! They had full bellies leaving the Club! A special thank you to all of the board members that contributed to the event with supplies and those that came out to volunteer. Appreciate you all! We did have leftover food and were able to donate all of it to a family in need.
In December we had a super-duper fun Christmas Party! Our kiddos had a BLAST! Club Members enjoyed delicious hot cocoa with fun toppings, cookies, “snowball fights”, door prizes, gingerbread house making, building a snowman, pass the present game, and so much more! It took a lot of teamwork before, during, and after the party. We have such a good team who truly cares about our Club members! Interra Credit Union sponsored our hot cocoa, juice, cookies, and Christmas goody bags for the Club members to enjoy! We appreciate their support year after year!
Virtual Learning Support
Boys & Girls Club of Middlebury began offering virtual learning support in November to Middle School & High School teens who do not have adequate internet connection, need academic help & accountability, and a place other than home to do schoolwork. Students had team members present to help with assignments and accountability for completing projects. We had a total of 28 Club members/students participate in BGC Academy with most attending daily. We appreciate the partnership that we have with Middlebury Community Schools. Teachers were in communication with us weekly on late assignments and how we could best help Club members academically during this time. Students went back to in-person school on January 19th.
Giving Back to the Community
With the help of businesses in the community and our wonderful donors we were able to sponsor 11 families this Christmas season totaling 26 children! Our families were so thankful for the generosity shown during these hard times. Our Club members were blessed with so many gifts and goodies on Christmas day. They came back to Club after Christmas break with thank you cards saying, “Thank you so much for my Nintendo Switch, I love it so much!” Our organization and community really do Whatever it Takes for our Club members to have a Great Future.
