Kids taking part in Camp Koda are learning about science during Outer Space week.
As part of the week, the kids are learning the basics of aviation using model planes. They’ve been able to build their own wooden model planes and test them out with the help of members of the Millersburg RC Modelers.
“My plane got off the ground. It went good,” said Ricky.
After trying their own aerodynamic adventure, some of the kids took a trip to a country airstrip to see the Miilersburg RC group test out remote control planes.
As the planes soared through the skies, the kids watched in anticipation at their moves.
“I liked the propeller. It went faster, faster and faster,” said Mira.
“I liked the one that went straight up and then came back toward the ground,” said Anthony. “I thought it was going to crash twice.”
Members of the modelers say they enjoy showing kids the hobby.
“The hobby needs young involvement. The fact they get to see it may spark and interest,” said Bob Curtis, president.
